10 Biggest Mistakes In Rock Music History

9. Cynical - Blink 182

From the first time that you threw on Enema of the State, Blink 182 was never a band that you had to take all that seriously. I mean, the guys have songs about ex girlfriends dating people with dysentery, so there's only so much seriousness you can take at one time. When they planned their first comeback in over half a decade though, they weren't shy about leaving the harsh bits in.

Breaking out of the gate with Cynical, Mark Hoppus kicks things off before Travis Barker gets the chance to grandstand to get the album's momentum going. Travis has always been the biggest strength of Blink, but even gods can screw up, especially when he wasn't ready for the take. Towards the end of the drum fills, you hear Travis come to a complete stop and what sounds like someone going "AAAHH."

Turns out that that voice was actually Travis. When he was originally laying down the drum part, the take that they decided to keep was one where he screwed up, and that noise was him getting frustrated with his own playing. Still, if you've already beat a drum to death like that, there's no reason to be so hard on yourself. And let's face it, there's a good chance that you'll never find another time when you got to hear Travis' actual voice on a Blink 182 song.
