One of the biggest movies of 1982 was Rocky III, the story of Sylvester Stallone’s plucky boxer going up against a new foe in Mr. T’s Clubber Lang. Sly originally wanted to use Queen’s Another One Bites the Dust for the film, but when they said no, he turned to his friends in the band Survivor to write him something new.

What they produced would turn out to be their biggest ever song by a country mile.

Eye of the Tiger, with its immensely catchy chorus and triumphant message, captured the public’s imagination in a big way. It was a number one hit all over the world, finishing the year as the second best-selling track on the Billboard Hot 100. In Australia, it was the biggest seller bar none.

Throw in several platinum records and an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song and there’s no denying that Survivor absolutely ruled the roost in 1982. Thanks to the enduring popularity of Eye of the Tiger - plus the fact that rock radio stations can’t stop playing it - these guys are pretty much set for life.
