10 Biggest Shows In Rock History
2. Guns N Roses/Metallica Stadium Tour
No rock and roll tour is really complete without at least a little bit of extravagance. Regardless of what band is taking the top spot, you're always going to find a little bit of misbehavior going on underneath the surface, from high demanding rider requests to dangerous extracurricular services at the end of every night. However, when you take two of the biggest bands on the planet and put them in the same room, you're going to redefine the meaning of excess.
Looking to make a true stadium spectacle, Guns N Roses set to work building a tour with Metallica, each of them coming off of mammoth album with Use Your Illusion and the Black Album respectively. As both acts crossed the globe multiple times during their tour runs, this was both the biggest and most daunting days of their careers, with Axl Rose letting his inner diva show just a little too much.
Aside from the lavish parties that happened night after night, one night in Montreal turned violent when James Hetfield was badly burned during the set and the ensuing crowd rioted when Axl decided to cut GNR's set short after a few songs. Though the idea of two big-ticket acts coming together on the same stage sounds good at the outset, these shows proved that it could also do miles on your soul.
