10 Biggest Unsolved Mysteries In Rock Music History
3. Jim Morrison’s Death
As the ‘60s started to give way to new sounds coming out of Los Angeles, the Summer of Love also had a dark side with the arrival of the Doors. Combining the sounds of blues and jazz into the rock format, Jim Morrison emerged as one of the most enigmatic frontmen of his time, treating his lyrics like poetry and toying with just how much misbehavior you could get into both on and off the stage. Though that kind of behavior was bound to catch up with him at some point, the details surrounding Jim’s passing have been in question for years.
While it’s likely that his body just shut down due to years of heavy drinking and drugs, the coroner report surrounding his death said nothing except for heart failure to describe what happened. It doesn’t matter if the end result is death though, only that’s not what people actually believe. Even though Jim’s widow Pam Courson was distraught to see her fiance dead, none of the members of the Doors family actually saw him deceased.
By the time the band’s manager made it to Paris where Jim was staying, the coffin had already been sealed, meaning that none of the band ever had clear confirmation that their singer had passed away. Since then millions of fans have come to his memorial grave stone in Paris, but legend has it that Jim is still among the living, having gone into exile to permanently escape the rock star life.
