10 Biggest Unsolved Mysteries In Rock Music History
2. Richey Edward’s Whereabouts
It’s always a part of the rock star mystique to be a little bit mysterious in terms of your personal life. Outside of interviews and live shows, it’s more fun to play with what your audience’s perception of you is like, even if it means dealing with some sinister stuff every now and again. Richey Edwards bought into that darker side of life though, and no one has heard a thing about him since the early ‘90s.
During his time in the Manic Street Preachers, Richey was the main punk rock spirit of the band, having much more of a hand in the snide lyrical style and self-destructive tendencies brought on by drugs. Fans could tell that things weren't going well during the rollout for The Holy Bible, with songs that dealt with Richey’s experience practicing malnutrition and self harm. Though writing about it may have been his way to purge himself of his demons, he only spiraled further until he stopped showing up to rehearsals before a tour.
After trying to find him at his house, Richey was never heard from again, with only his car being found on a bridge and his body nowhere to be found. As law enforcement started getting involved, it seemed like Richey had disappeared off the face of the Earth, with no one able to track him down. This case was eventually closed after Edwards was presumed dead, but it’s that much more troubling for rock fans to never see any proof that he ever actually passed away.
