10 Biggest WTF Moments In 2000s Rock

3. The Rev Passes Away

We've enter the sad portion of this list now, so if you're not really feeling up to it, please do skip ahead to the final entry.

One band who went on a meteoric rise across the 2000s was Avenged Sevenfold, who went from a small band on the California metal scene to one of the biggest rock groups in the entire world.

Unfortunately, with just three days of the decade left, A7X were dealt a tragic blow.

Drummer and co-founder of the band James "The Rev" Sullivan was found unresponsive at his home on the 28th December 2009. Upon arriving at a nearby hospital, he was pronounced dead at the age of just 28.

Sullivan's death was attributed to an overdose of various drugs, which caused his heart to enlarge. The music community was shocked to its core at the sudden loss, as Rev had such a bright future ahead of him.

Drug-related deaths have existed in music for many years, but it felt as if they were finally starting to be curbed in the late 2000s. The Rev's untimely death is proof that addiction is still as prevelant an issue as it always has been.
