10 Biggest WTF Moments In 2010s Rock

2. Chris Cornell And Chester Bennington’s Suicides

On May 18th 2017, Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell took his own life.

The legendary singer's sudden passing was a shock to everyone, including his good friend Chester Bennington of Linkin Park fame.

Two months later on July 20th, what would have been Cornell's 53rd birthday, Bennington's body was found after the singer also decided to end his own life.

Whilst it's impossible to say what the direct cause of anyone deciding to commit suicide is, there can be no doubt that Cornell's tragic death played its part in bringing Bennington to such a low point.

Both artists had battled depression throughout their lives, which is partly why they were so beloved by millions. The honesty and openness expressed in their music touched people around the world, all of whom were devastated when their deaths were reported.

Depression is a horrible thing that has claimed the lives of far too many beautiful people. Cornell and Bennington's deaths are a bleak reminder that, even if someone looks okay on the outside, their internal position might be very different.
