10 Biggest WTF Moments In '90s Rock Music

6. Rage’s Dirty Protest

In our previous list covering the 1980s, we touched on the Parents Music Resource Center, or the PMRC for short.

Led by Al Gore's wife Tipper, the PMRC waged war on music it believed to be morally reprehensible. They were the ones to first bring in those black and white "Parental Advisory" stickers you used to get on CDs.

Are they still on CDs? Are CDs even still a thing? Nobody knows.

Naturally, the world of rock music was one of the biggest affected by their crusade, and some members of the community took it on themselves to fight back.

Look, what did you expect from a band called Rage Against the Machine?

At the Lollapalooza festival in 1993, Rage forewent their allotted set and staged a protest against this perceived censorship. They walked out on stage with tape over their mouths and the letters "PMRC" painted on each of their chests.

Oh, and they were also naked. Like, properly naked.

The protest will live long in the memory of anyone who saw it, for one reason or another.

The story is only slightly ruined when you realise they only did it because Zack De La Rocha had lost his voice.
