10 Bizarrely Specific Music Genres You Won't Believe Actually Exist

1. Babymetal

Japan have done it again. Meet Su Metal, Yui Metal and Moa Metal; defining themselves as a "kawaii metal" dance-group, mixing J-pop idol music with heavy metal. The young trio are causing all sorts of rifts in the metal world: many metalheads describing (with intense detail) just how much Babymetal makes them want to take a 9mm to their heads; others embracing the new genre and Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman describing them as "Meshuggah with J-pop on top".

The 15-year-old schoolgirls were initially scared of the concept of heavy metal, but they've made they're own bizarre, cuddly version of it: using the "gesture of the fox" instead of the sign of the horns. Their get-up is not far from that of a Manga comic: short skirts, pigtails and squeaky voices. Mix the whole thing with metal, and you've got one very popular combination... and not just in Japan.

What do you think? Has the world gone mad in a bid to create the most extreme music genres possible? Do you like Babymetal? What about Nintendocore? Know any more crazy sub-genres? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
