10 Breakout Indie-Rock Stars Of 2019's Summer Festival Season
6. BLOXX
One of the grungier bands to make it on this list, the female-led band hailing from London seamlessly integrate the heavier sounds that the genre brings with infectious indie-rock resulting in a sound that feels authentically unpolished and relatably raw. Headspace, the EP they released earlier this year chronicling the trials and tribulations of complicated relationships, gives a great showcase of what their music is all about, especially standout tracks Lay Down and Sea Blue.
However, their music really comes to life during their live performances, bringing out an electrifying energy on stage. Building a respectable fanbase from touring with the likes of Sundara Karma and, more recently, The Wombats, their series of summer shows peaked with them opening the BBC Radio 1 stage at Reading & Leeds.
In the midst of developing their first album, intriguingly containing only new music, they promise to build on the success of Headspace even further. Adding that to their Autumn headline tour, and opening shows for Two Door Cinema Club thrown in for good measure, BLOXX are set to be much higher up the festival billing in 2020.
