10 Breakout Indie-Rock Stars Of 2019's Summer Festival Season

5. Ten Tonnes

Contrary to what the name might suggest, Ten Tonnes is actually just one guy, Ethan Barnett. The Hertford lad has made quite an impact introducing classic rock themes within the more conventional indie-pop framework in surprisingly effective ways.

Through the release of his self-titled debut album in May, he has shown a remarkable level of variety in his music already. Going from seductive basslines in Nights In, Nights Out (really showing off his vocal range here) to swaying sing-alongs G.I.V.E. and Better Than Me, he then gets to turn it up a notch in all-out rockers Lucy and Cracks Between.

Showcasing his album during his packed festival run, he put on some cracking shows at Reading & Leeds, Y Not, Barn On The Farm, and even Glastonbury. Given how many heads he's turning, and another headline tour across the UK & Europe to close out 2019, he's definitely set to play to even bigger crowds come festival season next year.

Oh, and one final, small thing to mention here. If you want to have more of an idea of the places he might end up, his older brother's only George Ezra.
