10 Brilliant Cover Versions Of Classic Songs

4. Orgy - Blue Monday

Originally recorded by: New Order

The original version of Blue Monday is one of the most eighties compositions you’ll ever hear. There's a thudding drum machine, a sizzling electronic melody and restrained, moody vocals but Orgy take those familiar sounds and load them up with powerful industrial textures and gothic vocals.

That gloriously fun melody rewritten with buzzing fuzzed up riffs and dreamlike lead guitars just bursts out of the speakers and the industrial twist gives the chorus a new lease of life. It’s gloomy, dark and heavy but still manages to retain the iconic danceable groove the track is known for.
