10 Cheesiest Glam Metal Songs Ever Written

6. Warrant - Cherry Pie

The Darkness
Columbia

Coming from their 1990 album of the same name, it is widely regarded as the band’s only popular release. It is always easy to spot a one-hit-wonder, as the majority of people know the song, but not the name of the artist and that is very much the case here.

The song is generic and overplayed, and this may be the reason why it’s so unbearable to listen to. Plus, the sexist connotations that the song carries with it, mentioning that the girl in question “tastes so good” are only amplified by the fact that it has become a stereotypical strip club staple in the years following it's release.

Used in cinematic disasters like Grown Ups 2, Bad Grandpa, Rock Of Ages, and Surviving Christmas, the trashy nature of the song seems to translate well into trashy cinema, and while I'm sure the band have no problems with royalty cheques that this brings in, it's likely to have left their critical perception in a mangled state, more so.

The song may even be the reason that Warrant were never taken seriously or even heard of again, as some of their later albums like Ultraphobic and Under The Influence were decent offerings, but went widely unrecognised, which is a real shame.
