10 Christmas Songs That Are Actually Good
3. Corey Taylor - X-M@$
The anthem to every cynic and pessimist who's suffered through Christmas, the Stone Sour/Slipknot frontman gave us this gem in 2010 and just dumps on the holiday season, regardless of religion. That way it's more encompassing!
Written in a single afternoon during a break in a Stone Sour UK tour, Taylor noted people's grievances for the holidays, collated them, and wrote out the song to poke fun at such negative nellies. In an interview with UK music magazine Kerrang!, Taylor said, "I wrote this song in my kitchen one winter, listening to people b*tch about the holidays. Personally, I love the holidays, but they seem to bring on severe stress in most people. So, I wrote this in honor of crotchety, drunken b*stards who don't know the difference between a yuletide and a tool shed. Plus, I think it's funny."
Always known for his sense of humour, Taylor would finish the song with a cheeky little "Hi Simon!" call-out in the fade out. This was of course targeted towards one Simon Cowell who, one year earlier, had lost the UK Christmas No. 1 to Rage Against the Machine. Oh 2009, you were too good to us.
