10 Classic Albums That Are Criminally Short
4. Kids See Ghosts - Kids See Ghosts
Over the past few years, hip hop albums have not been known to be the most tight of releases. Hell, if you look at any of the track listings in Drake's discography, you would think that you were going to be listening to two albums' worth of material on one single experience. Even if most people are adapting to the playlist model, it sometimes pays to have something as airtight as Kids See Ghosts.
Even though Kid Cudi and Kanye West had been admirers and contributors to each others' work for years at this point, this pure collaboration between the two was one of the most inspired recordings either of them have made in their entire career. Given that both of them had been having problems with their mental health throughout the making of this record, the psychedelic bliss of the production feels almost like it's healing them, from the screams in Feel the Love to the cosmic drop you get on Free.
Clocking in just shy of 24 minutes, this is the kind of album that leaves you aching for more by the end of its runtime. Then again, maybe adding a bunch of other tracks may distract from the experience a a whole. Even if it took a lot for these ghosts to be exorcised, it left us with one hell of a great experience to look back on.
