10 Classic Albums That Are Criminally Short
5. Green River - CCR
In the era of Flower Power, Creedence Clearwater Revival seemed to be the one band that managed to please every single rock fan they came across. Combining elements of folk, rock, blues, and country, the entire aesthetic behind CCR seemed to reach across the demographics that hadn't been seen since the Beatles. Even though they had their brilliance nailed down, would it have killed them to make Green River just a little bit longer?
While the fans absolutely adored Creedence, they had always been dogged as a singles band for most of their career, known to pad out the rest of their albums with filler. Though every artist finds themselves making lackluster tracks every now and again, Green River is not one of those cases, with each song being little bit sized pieces of rock and roll harmony, from the hollered vocals of Tombstone Shadow to the radio rock staples like Bad Moon Rising.
Although there are enough songs on here to constitute a full album, you'll never find one that eclipses 5 minutes, with most of them jamming and getting out of there while you're still enjoying it. Though most albums like these feel like they stop just as they're getting started, this is the kind of short experience that makes you want to experience it again and again.
