10 Classic Albums That Are Criminally Short

3. Ramones - Ramones

Most of the greatest punk rock is known to be short and to the point. Unless you're a band like Flipper and your songs are meant to be slow and a touch boring, the best punk rock is some of the greatest adrenaline kicks that music can produce. Although most of the fashionized sense of punk attitude came from England, the real genesis of the ethos came from a couple of dudes in the depths of New York City.

Recorded on a shoe string budget, the Ramones' self titled album is practically everything you could ask for in a rock record, clocking in at just under a half hour. Though the actual songs are not exactly the most substantive, they serve as one of the purest forms of rock and roll ever conceived. You can practically smell the griminess of the studio as they go from one track to the next, with Blitzkrieg Bop played off perfectly by Judy is a Punk.

For an album that is way too short, there's still a few wild left turns in the track listing too, with the open hearted joy of I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend to the drug story and possible lynching taking place on 53rd and 3rd. As dangerous as some of these themes might be, that doesn't stop these songs from being bulletproof from start to finish.
