10 Classic Albums With Terrible Album Covers

4. Pet Sounds - Beach Boys

The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds is one of the most heavenly listens in the history of rock music. Though the band had been known for their gorgeous harmony work for most of their career, Brian Wilson's time in the studio made for some of the most luscious melodies to ever come from the pop realm, with songs like "God Only Knows" and "Wouldn't It Be Nice" becoming modern standards. There's a lot to love about this record, but the album cover isn't really one of them.

While the songs inside of this album haven't aged a day, the front of this album is the epitome of '60s cheese. There isn't something necessarily wrong with the Beach Boys feeding goats, which itself ties into the idea of pets on Pet Sounds. On the other hand, what ruins it isn't the picture itself but instead the font that was used.

Looking like that generic lettering you would find on a knockoff Woodstock T-shirt, listing out all of the album's songs on the front of the album cuts to the chase in precisely the wrong way. When listening to Pet Sounds, you can hear how many hours it took to get it to perfection, but this shot for the front may have taken a half hour at best.
