10 Classic Rock Albums That Got Better Over Time

7. Draw the Line - Aerosmith

Whether the band wanted to admit it or not, Aerosmith were about to hit a major brick wall at the end of the '70s. With most of the group getting strung out on drugs, they would not come out of their defining decade intact, with Joe Perry getting into a huge scrap with Steven Tyler and leaving the band. Just before they crashed into the shore, they made the one album that puts all of that excess into a neat ball.

As much as Draw the Line might sound like a good time, there's a lot more sinister bite to some of these songs than you probably realize. If you ignore the god awful cover art for the record, this was the kind of hard edged version of Aerosmith that we had seen on Rocks, only with a lot more junk in their veins. When you listen to something like I Wanna Know Why, it practically feels like the song could fall apart at any moment, which they were pretty close to doing around that time as well.

Recording in a former penitentiary did also bring out their epic side as well, like when Steven Tyler writes a full blown viking tale on the song Kings and Queens, which is one of the most underrated slowburns that the band would ever create. Though it's a miracle an album like this even exists, it didn't necessarily point to great things to come or anything.
