10 Classic Rock Bands That Never Made A Bad Album
7. Rush
There's a lot of red flags for fairweather rock fans when it comes to getting into progressive rock. If you were only lukewarm on the idea of longer songs, the idea of sitting through an entire albums' worth of songs that eclipse the 10 minute mark might be your musical kryptonite if you're not careful. Though it's easy to get scared off by the crushing lengths, Rush is one of the few acts that made every second of runtime count.
Ever since their genesis as a Led Zeppelin knockoff, this Canadian power trio grew up really quickly ever since, having the same type of feral energy of hard rock combined with the intellectual lyrics of Neil Peart and a slew of new twists and turns inspired by the likes of King Crimson and Genesis. As much as these kind of things seem slated to fail, tracks like Tom Sawyer and Limelight have become foundational in the classic rock realm, pleasing the casual listener along with the musical enthusiast.
Even when transitioning into poppier territory, Rush never managed to miss a beat in the process, with lowlights like Hold Your Fire and Counterparts still holding up as masterstrokes of prog brilliance. Though the chances of getting any new material was extinguished when Peart passed away last year, it's better to have a discography this pure than inadvertently tarnishing it over time.
