10 Classic Rock Bands That Never Made A Bad Album
6. The Doors
As the '60s started to come into its own, hard rock didn't really know what it wanted to be yet. Although acts like the Rolling Stones may have gotten things started just a few years before, the era of psychedelia mixed with the start of garage rock left the landscape too vast for any one band to take over. Even with a scene looking like the Wild West, The Doors reigned supreme if you found yourself on Sunset Boulevard.
Across just 6 records, the Doors managed to create some of the most exotic sounding rock and roll known to man, with Jim Morrison at the helm delivering one piece of spoken word poetry after another. While we had gotten used to the idea of poetry intermingling with the rock format, Morrison really made the subject matters of these tunes feel like life and death, with songs like the End feeling like the end of the world next to the radio friendly material like Love Her Madly.
Even after dips in relevancy, the Doors' experimentation with different styles like jazz and blues showed them getting even more creative with age, with Jim Morrison becoming Patient Zero for how the outrageous frontman is supposed to act. As much as rock music seemed to already be widespread at this point, the Doors is what happens when you start to play rock and roll with your third eye opened.
