10 Classic Rock Bands That Never Made A Bad Album
2. Prince
If you were looking for the first moment when rock started to get stale, it would have to be the later half of the '70s. While the heavyhitters of the day like Aerosmith and ZZ Top were still selling out tours left and right, the lackluster songs and bloated solos on their albums made for some of the rougher patches of their respective careers. We needed something a lot more bold, and Prince provided just the ticket with funk, swagger, and all things Purple.
Given how young he was when he started out, Prince was really the epitome of a musical genius, touching every single genre he could get his hands on since his debut album For You. Though most people like to distill his classic period to something like Purple Rain, there are over half a dozen other albums that could be considered classics unto themselves, from the stellar follow up Around the World in a Day to his funk-ified answer to the Beatles' White Album Sign O the Times.
This isn't just exclusive to the '80s either, with the '90s and '00s showing him reaching for even loftier musical influences like jazz and even the avant garde style of rock. Even though some records might make for better starting points than others, Prince is probably the only musician who can claim to have done it all in his lifetime on this Earth.
