10 Classic Rock Bands That Released 5 Great Albums In A Row

7. Wednesday Morning 3AM to Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon & Garfunkel

Simon and Garfunkel are really an anomaly in the world of rock music. At a time when bands like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones were dominating the scene, this duo were like rock and roll's folky cousin, with close harmonies and no real harshness in sight. Though they may not have had the typical rock sound, their run of perfect albums left a stark impression on everyone who heard them.

Wednesday Morning 3 AM stands out as a great folk album, but the band expanded once they realized the power behind their societal critique "The Sound of Silence." Across the rest of their albums, Paul Simon became more thoughtful with his lyrical themes, writing stories about loners and those on the outskirts of society. While the lyrics may be one thing, the duo also expanded their palette in terms of musical structure, with "Scarborough Fair" being a masterpiece of the 20th century.

As they made their way through Bookends, their final album Bridge Over Troubled Water created some of the most soothing melodies in their catalog, from the lush title track to the sweet "lie-lie-lies" of "The Boxer." Creative differences eventually tore them apart, but what we have to reminisce on is a some of the most emotional rock and roll out there.
