10 Classic Rock Songs That Mean Absolutely Nothing
8. Deuce - KISS
Out of all the biggest rock bands of the '70s, you couldn't really call KISS deep by any stretch. Since these were guys that were known to dress up in horrifying makeup and have bombs going off at their shows, you didn't really need to have Bob Dylan-level lyrics on top of it all. These were sex, drugs, and rock and roll at its finest, but even Gene Simmons has admitted to going a little overboard in the early days.
Fresh off leaving Wicked Lester behind, the band's debut created the songs that would become classics in the band's set to this day, with Deuce still being a staple for Simmons to sing every night. When Gene talked about the lyrics recently though, he has fessed up by saying that he doesn't have a clue what the song even means. The chorus seems pretty straightforward though, until you try to connect them to the verses.
Being in a band that didn't have a dime to their name, the chorus seems to be Simmons asking this girl to stand by her man, only for everything to get thrown out of whack when we start the song off with him telling us to get our grandma out of here. This might be left to rock and roll legend, but it seems more and more plausible that Gene just had two song ideas and just smushed them together without thinking about the lyrics clashing.
