10. The Wizard - T.Rex
http://youtu.be/mfSSmy8B5GA Before he went about banging gongs, asking if metal gurus were real, and dancing out of the womb, Marc Bolan once sang about a wizard for eight minutes over some of the most bizarrely psychedelic glam-folk ever performed. Taken from their self-titled album, Marc had decided to do away with Tolkien-inspired folk ditties and crank it up to eleven, but that didnt stop him turning his folksy roots away. If anything, Marc manifested them into what would later be classified as glam rock, and The Wizard somehow manages to tread the middle line between those early days playing in incense-perfumed clubs with twanging acoustic guitars to making pre-teen girls excite them in ways One Direction never could with flashy Gibson Les Pauls and tight, sparkling trousers.
