10 Classic Rock Songs That Push The 7-Minute Mark

5. Maggot Brain - Funkadelic

http://youtu.be/JOKn33-q4Ao Opening with what could be the greatest introduction ever spoken by a lead singer, this ten-minute guitar odyssey, whichever legendary tale of its birth is true (and there are many), stands as one of the most evocative pieces of instrumental music ever put to vinyl in the classic rock era. As mentioned, several different stories exist regarding how this song was created, but nearly all of them involve death, both fictitious and real. What€™s real is the emotion being bled out of Eddie Hazel€™s fingers. Dripping with soul even in its quietest of moments, Maggot Brain is the song every guitarist should learn but probably won€™t because: A) they€™re too busy thinking they€™ve outdone Jimmy Page or Jimi Hendrix at their own game or B) they couldn€™t do it justice.
