10 Classic Rock Songs That Were Written About Drugs

9. Morning Glory - Oasis

As the grunge scene slowly started to fizzle out, the entire mindset behind Oasis was about how things were going to get a whole lot better. Even though the Gallagher Brothers fought like cats and dogs, seeing them together onstage made it feel like the glory days of the '60s came back for a little while, becoming the new bad boys of rock and roll. The motto of sex, drugs, and rock and roll was back, and Noel wasn't exactly shy about talking about indulging a little bit on one of his biggest hits.

Though he claims to have written Morning Glory during the sessions for the album, it was clear that Noel had some of the white line on his mind when writing this as well, talking about writing his dreams with a mirror and a razorblade. Although it's hard to really parse out what the song means half the time, the abrasive nature of the guitars almost give you that kind of sensation, being on the other side of the world and slowly coming back down.

This was also just a few months shy of Noel's infamous details to the press, where he talked about drugs being as much a part of his life as having a cup of tea in the morning. In that sense, What's the Story Morning Glory might not be just a poetic turn of phrase that Noel found somewhere. This is practically about coming out of a stupor and trying to sort out what the hell you did the night before.
