10 Classic Songs That Aren't As Serious As You Think

7. Nona - Motley Crue

Any of the hair metal bands populating the Sunset Strip in the late '80s didn't really have time to worry about feelings. Aside from the occasional carnal feelings for a girl, most of the early age of hair metal was about sounding dangerous, while still wearing gigantic stiletto heels for some reason. Though Motley Crue was right in the thick of that scene, Nikki Sixx had something a little close to the chest on Nona.

Being just a slow ballad segueing between the other songs on Girls, Girls, Girls, this song isn't about a girlfriend Nikki had, but rather a tribute to his grandmother who was in poor health during the album's production. Seeing how she was one of the only people who stuck by Nikki's side, this was his way of making peace with his childhood and settling into his identity as a new man on Sunset.

It's at this point that I will remind you that this is the same album that has tracks like Wild Side, with lyrics that talk about a man who gets killed after being caught with his best friend's wife. Despite every reason to think that this is not going to be a fun ride, Nona is probably the closest thing to wholesome that this version of Motley Crue ever came.
