10 Classic Songs That Secretly Inspired Oasis
7. Little Miss Lover - Jimi Hendrix
The Beatles aren't the only classic from the '60s that Oasis have had a certain reverence for. Ever since starting out, they wanted to get back to the kind of all out rock and roll that dominated the charts back in the day, with the Beatles being right next to acts like the Stones and the Who. And when they decided to come back after a well earned break following the Be Here Now album cycle, the first track set the tone nicely on Standing on the Shoulders of Giants.
Looking back on it, it doesn't feel like Oasis really put that much effort into F*ckin in the Bushes, since most of it is just made up of samples and a continuing guitar loop that goes throughout the entire song. This feels like a good intro to just get the crowd hyped up, but the drum beat is definitely something much more than a groove. When combing through classic rock history, it's extremely similar to the groove that Jimi Hendrix's Mitch Mitchell laid down on the song Little Miss Lover off of Axis Bold as Love.
From the sounds of this tune though, it's not so much about drummer Alan White subconsciously taking his classic rock records and just putting an Easter Egg in there for the hell of it. This track is all about getting people on their feet, and sometimes you need to call back to the classics to really get the crowd moving.
