10 Classic Songs That Were Recorded Incredibly Fast

3. Kill Em All - Metallica

Most debuts that come out in the rock world aren't necessarily the most cleancut of releases. Though there are exceptions, most people just getting started in the studio are just trying to make something that is somewhat coherent to build off of once they hit the road. When it comes to Kill Em All though, the speedy nature of the sessions was born more out of necessity than anything else.

Recorded on less than a shoestring budget, most of Metallica's first tracks were made in a quick and dirty fashion to capture the vibe of their live shows. In reality, most of the cheap recording sessions came about because they didn't have the money to pay for any more recording time. While you can definitely hear the rough edges on the vocals, Kirk Hammett still finds it strange to return to this album over the years.

Seeing how he didn't really have time to refine his solo work, a lot of the songs contain blatant mistakes and a lot of dirty notes interspersed among the riffs. Then again, Kirk has seemed to have made his peace with his pitfalls, chalking it up more to the character of the record than to utter incompetence. So next time you try to play along with the record at home, just remember it's sometimes more about the vibe than the actual correct notes you play.
