10 Craziest Musical Urban Legends

1. Paul is Dead

Even after 50 years of existence, the music of the Beatles is pretty much bulletproof in the realm of rock music. Aside from a few hiccups here and there, stuff like Sgt. Peppers and Abbey Road have become musical classics regardless of the genre, all thanks to the creative minds of John, Paul, George, and Ringo. Or at least...that's what they want you to think.

Ever since the late '60s, many Fab fans have speculated as to whether the Paul McCartney we have known all these years is the same man we met on Please Please Me and A Hard Day's Night. As many have claimed, the original Paul McCartney was killed in an automobile accident around 1966, leading to the other three Beatles to replace him with a lookalike for the rest of their artistic run.

It's not like they don't have "evidence" to back it up either, with clues to his demise being found in the Sgt. Pepper album sleeve and even in the band's lyrics. Paul has ended up taking the entire thing in stride over the years though, either laughing it off as a joke or going so far as to directly confront it by naming one of his live records Paul Is Live. I mean, even if this version of Paul is an imposter, the work he made during the Beatles' later years is still among some of the greatest music of the 20th century.
