10 Crazy Last-Minute Changes To Famous Music Videos

1. Yellow - Coldplay

Coldplay’s music video Yellow is a great example of conveying so much emotion and mood by doing very little. The production is minimalistic – it’s a continuous shot which features only Chris Martin singing the song as he walks along the beach. The weather is cloudy and dim as Martin wears waterproofs, implying it has just been heavily raining.

The original setting and atmosphere were going to be drastically different. For starters, the whole band was set to be in the video but the funeral of Will Champion’s mother was held on the very same day of filming. All of them attended except Chris because the production crew were already paid for. It was also envisioned to be a sunny day on the beach with many extras casually in the background but it rained badly so Martin did the shoot completely alone.

The unexcepted change in weather was a blessing in disguise as Yellow is now one of the band’s most beloved videos because of its evocative feelings of sorrow and melancholy.

Could you really imagine this video with sunshine and crowds? Because we sure can't. Thank you, mother nature.
