10 Criminally Underrated Linkin Park Songs
6. Sorry For Now – One More Light (2017)
One More Light did not receive a particularly warm reception upon release. The album was essentially a pop record, and as such, fans and critics felt the band had drifted too far from their roots.
Sure, it’s probably the band’s weakest project, but with repeated listens, certain tracks do start to stand out. ‘Sorry For Now’ is one of the few Linkin Park songs where Shinoda takes the lead on vocals. (Though Bennington does sing during the bridge.)
The song has an interesting theme at its core as well. Shinoda’s lyrics centre on the regret he feels at having to spend time away from his children whilst acknowledging they will come to understand his choice when they’re older.
Like the rest of the album, it’s a huge departure from the style of their most well-known work, but this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Shinoda’s soothing tones fit the message of the song perfectly, and the final chorus is the best moment on the entire record.
