10 Criminally Underrated Linkin Park Songs
5. Nobody’s Listening – Meteora (2003)
Just like Hybrid Theory, Meteora is a nu-metal classic that has aged incredibly well. Given how many stellar singles there were from this record, however, it’s easy for some of the album-only tracks to be overlooked.
‘Nobody’s Listening’ is one of the deeper cuts on the album and features one of the most unique instrumentals the band have ever created. Using a shakuhachi flute in a nu-metal song may seem like a disastrous idea, but Linkin Park somehow pull it off. Shinoda takes the lead on vocals, and his rapping weaves smoothly in and out of this unique instrumental.
The guitars are much more minimal throughout this track. They’re only used during the chorus, and they’re barely noticeable in the mix. Yet it’s not really an issue. Chester’s gritty vocal tone – which always sounds great over a distorted guitar – also manages to sit comfortably alongside the shakuhachi flute.
