10 David Bowie Songs That Will Make Your Life Better

5. Modern Love (1983)

Let's Dance may get most of the love from Bowie's album of the same name, but its opening track remains one of his most euphoric initial salvos, heralded by its choppy opening guitar and drum blast.

Produced by Chic man Nile Rodgers and featuring guitar from the late blues legend Stevie Ray Vaughan, it's a brilliant boogie-indebted number, one whose airily propulsive sense of freedom was put to effective use in the Noah Baumbach movie Frances Ha, among others on the silver screen.

Something of a culture vulture, Mr Steel can historically be found in three places; the local cinema, the local stadium or the local chip shop. He is an avowed fan of franchise films, amateur cricket and power-chords.
