10 Decent Albums With Way Too Much Filler

1. Just Push Play - Aerosmith

Anyone who considered themselves a fan of Aerosmith probably sh*t their pants when they first heard a song like Jaded come on the radio. This was supposed to be everything they had to fear about the next outing from the Bad Boys from Boston, trading in their dangerous sound for a high polished sheen. Though Just Push Play did crash and burn as to be expected, the biggest crime it commits is just being boring.

While starting off fairly strong with the song Beyond Beautiful, the entire track listing just feels like Aerosmith on auto pilot, as if they're just trying to coax off of the goodwill of their single I Don't Want to Miss A Thing and fart out any old music to pass the time. As much as flameouts like this can seem impressively bad, there really isn't much to complain about here, with these songs flowing in one ear and out the other from the minute you hear them.

Even though you can at least sense the conviction on the first few songs, the back half of this record really gets into boring territory, with tracks that feel like they're sucking away your lifeforce in real time. For years critics have tried to decide if being boring or being bad is worse, and Just Push Play is probably the prime advocate for how dullness can chip away at your sanity.
