10 Deep-Cut Ghost Songs That You Need To Listen To
5. See the Light
Prequelle was very much the turning point for Ghost. To some fans, their transition towards '80s-tinged metal and arena rock felt like a natural next step for the band, whereas many others felt that they'd moved too far away from what made them so appealing to begin with.
No matter which side of the fence you fall, Prequelle is undeniably a very fun listen and allowed the band to explore some of their other influences in greater depth - most notably Mercyful Fate, Ozzy Osbourne and of course, Alice Cooper.
Cooper's influence on the group is pretty plain to see, but never has the group fully embraced his style as they have on See the Light. Half ballad, half mid-tempo rocker with overly theatrical lyrics and a heavy emphasis on the album's core concepts, this song is a real highlight but has sadly never found its way into the band's live shows.
There's been much speculation as to whether some of the track's lyrics are referencing the legal battles between band members prior to Prequelle's release, but little has been said on the matter by Forge himself. It's certainly possible to read it in such a fashion, but for us, it's simply a great song.
