10 Deep-Cut Ghost Songs That You Need To Listen To

4. Mary On a Cross

Not content with baffling some parts of their fanbase with their genre shift on Prequelle, the band decided to double-down the following year and release Seven Inches of Satanic Panic, a two-track EP that saw them dive head-first into the world of 60s psychedelic rock with the one-two punch of Kiss the Go-Goat and Mary on a Cross.

Arguably one of the band's finest releases - in spite of its short length - this sudden divergence into a wholly different genre was a real treat for fans who could appreciate the band's unwillingness to merely stick to their spooky metal schtick; and whilst Kiss the Go-Goat is a brilliantly authentic 60s rocker that never fails to bring the house down, its companion track Mary On a Cross is a real gem.

A (somewhat) tender love song that opts for keyboards over guitars, this sappy-but-spooky track details a rollercoaster love affair that's complete with law-breaking, tender smooches and a whole lot of internal tickling, making it good wholesome fun for the family.

In typical Ghost fashion, this EP came with a ton of lore attached to it, which not only added further comedy to the proceedings but a much greater context for the song at large.
