10 Double Albums Worth Hearing Start To End

8. Bob Dylan - Blonde On Blonde

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8z7KzB16Ik One of the first double albums in rock history, Blonde on Blonde was easily one of Dylan's finer achievements. A wild blend of blues, folk, and one song Dylan described as having a "demented marching band," Blonde on Blonde was a true masterpiece, musically and lyrically. After the success of Highway 61 Revisited, Dylan hired The Hawks (who eventually became The Band) as his live touring band. After some relatively unsuccessful recording sessions in New York, Dylan moved to Nashville. There, along with Robbie Robertson, Al Kooper, and a cast of others, Dylan wrote and recorded the majority of the album. Ever the poetic lyricist, Dylan would spend hours working out the lyrics to a song. Sometimes these lyrics would be so long, the backing band would not know how long the song would go on. At points in the recording of "Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands" the musicians assumed the song was on its final verse, and were building up to a peak, only to have Dylan drop back into another verse. This album stretches out so marvellously, even the listener doesn't know when it will end. Best of Album 1: 1. Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 2. Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again 3. I Want You Best of Album 2: 1. Absolutely Sweet Marie 2. Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine) 3. Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands
