10 Double Albums Worth Hearing Start To End

5. Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vLlpJc9mW0 This gloriously rollicking album is a sheer joy to listen to. One of Elton's most successful and popular albums, it is wonderful blend up foot-tapping rock and tear-jerking balladry. Recorded during a time of great artistic output, by both Elton and lyricist Bernie Taupin, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is a true masterpiece. Written mostly in Jamaica, over a very short period, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road was then recorded in a beautiful chateau in France. Originally intended as a single album, Taupin and John were writing at such a fervent pace, they simply decided to release all the tracks they had. The album largely focuses on themes on nostalgia and childhood yearning, but also features some other topics. "Candle In The Wind," one of Elton's most beautiful ballads ever, was a tribute to the late Marilyn Monroe. More upbeat, danceable songs include the rocking "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting" and the gloriously fun sing-along "Bennie & The Jets." Best of Album 1: 1. Bennie and The Jets 2. Candle In The Wind 3. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Best of Album 2: 1. Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting 2. All The Girls Love Alice 3. Your Sister Can't Twist (But She Can Rock & Roll)
