10 Dumbest Music Videos Ever Made

7. You Make My Dreams Come True - Hall and Oates

At the start of the music video revolution, most bands were still just trying everything they could for the video to see what stuck. Regardless of what the music was, there was a good chance that some of the weirder acts could gain traction strictly on the weirdness of their video alone. Or if you're Hall and Oates, you just set up a couple of cameras and ham it up like your lives depend on it.

It almost feels weird saying that considering the other videos Hall and Oates had done up to this point. While still being your standard performance pieces, this is the moment where they leaned into the more cheesier aspects, even taking a break to give the background singers some screen time as they sing the backing vocals to each other for some reason. Also, as much as it might have been in vogue for its time, John Oates luscious stache isn't doing him any favors, especially when trying to rock the badass moves.

Hell, you can tell that the camera crew was getting in on the slipshot nature of the video as well, with some shots that are deliberately out of frame towards the end of the track. While the song itself is classic, Joseph Gordon Leavitt's dance routine in the middle of 500 Days of Summer would make a much better music video than this.
