10 Dumbest Music Videos Ever Made
6. I'm Just a Kid - Simple Plan
The pop punk explosion that took place in the early '00s holds a special place in the hearts of millennials the world over. While not even being the biggest genre in the world, just the casual mention of something like All the Small Things by Blink 182 or Fat Lip by Sum 41 will conjure up memories from the days where life seemed so simple. That's not to say that everything wasn't cheesy as all hell though.
Compared to the videos for something like All the Small Things, I'm Just a Kid by Simple Plan feels like the moment where the pop punk wave jumped the shark. Instead of taking the piss out of society or acting goofy in videos, this is the kind of doofy suburban humor that you would have found sandwiched between reruns of That's So Raven on the Disney Channel, as the boys talk about how whack it is living in the suburbs.
From the one kid that gets hit by a bus during one of the verses to the lousy degenerate who isn't really getting the full picture, this is the epitome of suburban angst that went by the wayside all too quickly once the youth actually grew up. Life may seem like a nightmare, but it doesn't make for the greatest look when you take a peek in the rearview.
