10 Dumbest Music Videos Ever Made

2. Time Stand Still - Rush

Around the same time that the MTV generation started to pick up steam, Rush were finding themselves going through their own change of season. Compared to the more outlandish moments they had at the beginning of their career, the '80s marked a shift into a brand new style, centered around shorter songs and a close attention to the synth choices. While something like Mystic Rhythms has the '80s smattered all over it, Time Stand Still is what many would consider the peak of their cheesiness.

Aside from the amazing feature from Aimee Mann and one of the biggest earworms in Rush's catalog, this video is one of the most '80s use of effects ever seen by man. Suffice to say that Rush apparently just figured out how their green screen works, and they're going to use every single frame of this video to show you what they can do.

Even though something like this may have looked cool in practice at the time, this is the same dull animation that any schmuck could make happen with just a few minutes in Adobe Premier nowadays. As such, this entire video virtually seems time stamped in 1988. I mean, good job for keeping in mind the title of the song, but it doesn't make the video hold up over 30 years later.
