10 Easy Guitar Riffs (That Don't Appear On Other Lists)

7. All Day And All Of The Night - The Kinks

When discussing easy riffs, The Kinks' 1964 mega-hit "You Really Got Me" often comes up. Comprised of an uncomplicated two power chord riff, the song is a perfect way of introducing power chords to the uninitiated beginner. However, the band's next single, taken from the same album, "All Day And All Of The Night" is arguably just as easy to play as well. This is likely down to how insanely similar the two songs sound, as they share the same lyrical themes, tempo, instrumentation and structure. Regardless of the similarities, both "You Really Got Me" and "All Day And All Of The Night" are amazing for a new guitarist.

The main riff of "All Day And All Of The Night" is made up of three power chords (F, G and A#) which is played throughout the verses. For the chorus, the same basic pattern is retained, the only difference being that it is played further up the fretboard, thus moving it up a few keys. This makes for a song that is not only addictive to listen to, but also surprisingly easy and fun to learn. The more distortion you can play "All Day And All Of The Night with, the better.
