10 Emotional Rock Songs That Will Make You Cry

8. Here Comes a Regular - The Replacements

The past few entries on here all have had some pretty heavy subject matter behind them. The audience might be able to interpret your song any way they want, but it takes on a whole new meaning once you're no longer on this planet. The Replacements don't have to deal with death around the corner though... they're just the sad sack sitting at a bar and growing more and more depressed.

Around the time that the album Tim starts to wrap up, you get all the distortion turned down for this beautiful acoustic cut, with Paul Westerberg talking about this guy going for a drink. As he starts pouring his heart out to you, he starts to realize just how much joy has been sucked out of his life, with the only thing on his mind being when to cut the grass and not being able to live up to people's expectations of him.

The chorus is the real gut punch, when he realizes that he's the only regular in this bar right now, with everyone else finding some time to be with their family. For all we know, this could be a holiday for everyone involved, and all this guy has to talk to is his empty bottle and the bartender. Though death might be a long way away for some of us, we all know a fair bit about loneliness, and this man basically treats it like an old friend.
