10 Essential Albums From 2019 You Need To Hear

4. King Gizzard - Infest The Rats Nest

The mad rock scientists from Australia never fail to disappoint. With every release, it seems that the King Gizzard troop have always found ways to broaden their sonic horizons. But with this record, the band decided to blast the amps up to 11 and blow the doors off their hinges.

Many of these songs show a clear influence of the early days of thrash metal. Think early Metallica by way of Motorhead and you've got this record. While the guitars are hard edged, there are also moments on this record that are reminiscent of stoner rock. Just listen to a song like "Superbug" and tell me you don't hear traces of Kyuss and Sleep.

The album also has a poignant environmental message as it tells a cautionary tale of what happens once we have wasted all of the resources on this planet. While there are many choice cuts on this album, I feel that hitting the shuffle button does the record a disservice. This is an album that has little to know filler and deserves to be taken in as a whole to be fully appreciated. Then you can hear the massive amount of kickass this band possesses.
