9. Dance, Dance

I'm breaking my own rule here, as From Under The Cork Tree second single Dance, Dance actually reached the top ten in both the US and the UK. But having been preceded by arguably the band's most famous track Sugar, We're Goin' Down, I feel this one is sometimes overlooked.

As the title suggests, Dance, Dance is pretty much just a great fun dance song. Built on a pulsating drum line and memorable bass line, the track feels urgent and collaborative, which makes it a fantastic live experience. Guitar kicks in on the pre-chorus following Patrick's vocal lines nicely, and the chorus is suitably hectic, but the real crescendo comes in the middle eight (or bridge), where the sound thickens and the attitude is laid on strong in one of the band's typically brilliant (and sexually suggestive) lyrical nuggets.

Dance, Dance is one of the group's most widely praised songs, as well as one of the most common live staples, having been a mainstay in the band's set lists since it was released.
