10 Even More Underrated Red Hot Chili Peppers Tracks

3. Pretty Little Ditty (1989)

It must have been a moment of madness when this track was allowed to be sampled in the travesty that was Butterfly. We include a link only to remind you just how shudder inducing that song was.

It takes a lot of work for this riff not to conjure up images of the f*ck boys from Crazy Town swanning around in a weird jungle setting. Yeah, you just shuddered again didn't you. It was an insult to music. But, if you can cast those images aside and lock them away in a tight little box deep in the confines of your mind, then you might be able to enjoy the original for the brilliance that it is.

The instrumental number appeared on Mothers Milk, an album full of the raucous sounds of self-assured young men, and it was an unexpected but welcome shift in tone.

We all have those playlists entitled "Chill" or "Good Vibes" and this should definitely be a feature. It's three minutes of silky chords, satisfyingly smooth guitar licks and even a hint of Flea's trumpet.

Listening to this song makes you fee like you're being bathed in mothers milk, it's comforting, dream like and rejuvenating.
