10 Famous Albums You Didn't Know Were Almost Completely Different
8. The Mountain Goats – Nothing For Juice
The Mountain Goats are an extremely prolific indie folk rock band formed in Claremont, California in 1991. Over the years the band (which originally consisted primarily of singer-songwriter John Darnielle) has released fifteen studio albums, over twenty EPs and hundreds of songs.
Released in the band's formative years, Nothing For Juice is the Mountain Goats' third studio album and the final record which sees collaboration with Rachel Ware on bass. Originally, however, the record set for release was entirely different, consisting of ten other songs. Hail And Farewell, Gothenburg was to act as a sequel to 1995's Sweden, but front man John Darnielle ultimately decided not to release it.
The record's legacy, however, has continued, with its eventual leak greatly displeasing Darnielle, who claims the songs are mastered too fast. This leak has actually prompted Darnielle to destroy the masters of any material he doesn't feel happy about, so as to avoid similar situations in the future.
