10 Famous Rock Music Videos Made On A Small Budget

9. You, In Weird Cities - Jeff Rosenstock

Jeff Rosenstock, formerly of the band Bomb the Music Industry!, has made a living out of lo-fi, homemade-style punk songs. So, it should come as no surprise that his music videos often follow this same formula.

To promote his 2015 album We Cool?, Rosenstock and his band set themselves the challenge of playing five shows in the five different boroughs of New York City in a single day.

In keeping with their down-to-earth style, the group decided that they would only be allowed to travel by public transport. As if playing five shows in a day wasn't exhausting enough.

Their experience of riding the subway, catching a ferry, and doing a whole bunch of walking was captured on film and turned into the music video for the single You, in Weird Cities.

For the cost of a day's worth of tickets, Rosenstock was able to create a video with narrative, heart, and character, as he and his friends' travel was intercut with footage of them playing live. Although, if you're going to be pedantic, you should also probably factor in the cost all of the blister cream that these guys would have inevitably bought afterwards.
